A Midsummer Night’s Dream?

Was A Midsummer Night’s Dream a dream,
Sketched by Shakespeare on his pillow?
Or was it slowly poured into his mind
By fairies while he slept?
Was it a lie?
Fiction lodged in a crevasse of his brain?
Or was it bred from instinct,
Centuries old,
Buried deep in his genes?

Such things are unknown,
Never to be uncovered.
But we can still reach,
Still imagine, still wish
For the Unanswerable.
